Visiting MD Anderson Library
MD Anderson is open with limited hours and services. Only UH faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students may enter the library at this time. If you don’t have your Cougar Card, we can grant access through your UH ID (PeopleSoft) number. Alumni will need to bring their digital alumni ID card for access.

Available Services, Materials and Locations

- Keyless study carrels in the Brown Wing (with sliding glass doors)
- A limited selection of lockable study carrels are now available in the Blue Wing
- Floors 1 through 3 in the Red Wing, floors 2 – 5 in the Brown Wing, and floors 3, 4, and 6 in the Blue Wing are open
Some library shelves are closed off. We recommend requesting a hold or contacting us to get items.
When you request an item, you will receive an email confirming your item is available. If you chose MD Anderson as your pick up location you may pick up your holds at the Service Desk. If you prefer to use our contactless pick-up point or to have your materials mailed to your home, please reply to that email with your preference. Once your items have been mailed or placed on the contactless pick-up shelf, you will receive a confirmation email.
Due to restricted building access, UH Alumni, Texshare patrons, and Library Associates do not currently have the option to pick up items at the Service Desk.
Some locations are closed to the public, meaning some library stacks are inaccessible. Check our call number guide to see which ranges are closed off. Request a hold or contact us about items in closed ranges.
Floors 1 through 3 in the Red Wing, floors 2 – 5 in the Brown Wing, and floors 3, 4, and 6 in the Blue Wing are accessible at this time. If you need a book from an off-limits area, you may request it for pickup by contacting us or request a hold through the catalog.
Building occupancy is currently limited to 375 users.
All chairs and furniture, as well as computer stations, have been moved to accommodate at least 6 feet of physical distancing.
