Visiting MD Anderson Library
MD Anderson is open with limited hours and services. We will update this page as changes continue.
Explore library hours throughout the semester. Hours are subject to change.
Many library shelves are closed off. We recommend requesting a hold or contacting us to get items.
You will be contacted about the status of the materials. If they can be checked out, they will be on the contact-less pickup shelf at the library entrance. If you cannot come to campus, you can request delivery by campus or US mail.
Many locations are closed to the public, meaning some library stacks are inaccessible. Check our call number guide to see which ranges are closed off. Request a hold or contact us about items in closed ranges.
Access control turnstiles are located at the front of the library. Swipe your Cougar Card to enter.
Only UH faculty, staff, and students may enter the library at this time. If you don’t have your Cougar Card, we can grant access through your UH ID (PeopleSoft) number.
Only floors 1 through 3 are accessible at this time. Stacks are not available. If you need a book, you may request it for pickup by contacting us or ask for help at the service desk.
There is a line management setup where visitors may queue up for entry (located in the former 24-hour lounge). There may be a line to enter when you arrive, depending on building occupancy (currently limited to 375).
All chairs and furniture, as well as computer stations, have been moved to accommodate at least 6 feet of physical distancing.
Signs, including floor stickers, have been placed to encourage mask and physical distance requirements.
The following services remain unavailable:
- All equipment checkouts (including laptops, cameras, calculators, etc.)
- Group rooms
- Individual study carrels
- The upper floors of the Brown wing (4-5), the basement, and entire Blue wing are closed
