Selecting Journals for Academic Publishing

For newer researchers, choosing the right journal to submit your manuscript to can be a challenging process, with several criteria to consider before making a decision. This workshop addresses factors that can influence your choice of journal, including Journal Impact Factor and other quality indicators, and introduces resources where you can find information to help you make the right selection.

Demystifying Open Access Workshop

Open Access (OA) is revolutionizing how research and scholarship is disseminated, discovered, and used around the world. But what is Open Access? What are the pros and cons of choosing to publish my work with an open access journal? How can I distinguish a legitimate open access publisher from a predatory publisher? This workshop will demystify Open Access as both a concept and as a practice that can help increase the visibility and impact of your publications.

Understanding and Negotiating For Your Rights as an Author

When you publish in scholarly journals, you’re usually required to give up some or all of the rights to your work. In this workshop, UH librarians will show you what to look for in author contracts and go over strategies to hold onto rights to share and reuse your work for maximum visibility and impact.
