At University of Houston Libraries, we\u2019re on a journey of reinvention.<\/h2>\r\n

WE\u2019RE CREATING THE FOUNDATION<\/strong> for a\r\nReimagined Library, a big idea that will drive the\r\ndevelopment of modern, vibrant and inspiring spaces\r\nand services designed to meet the dynamic needs of\r\nUH students, faculty and scholars.
\r\n    Our vision is to become a research library befitting\r\na top 50 public university \u2014 a paradigm of collaboration,\r\ncommunity and convergence.
\r\n    What is the Reimagined Library? How will we\r\nachieve this goal?
\r\n    The Reimagined Library stewards collections\r\nthrough collaboration.<\/strong> The majority of UH Libraries\u2019\r\nsquare footage is allocated to print holdings, but\r\nour students and faculty are engaging digitally with\r\nscholarly materials. We\u2019re rethinking how we balance\r\nprint resources and space through a collections care\r\nmodel that expands electronic access, centers long-term\r\npreservation and protection of the scholarly record, and\r\nmakes high-circulating print volumes more visible in\r\nresearch and engagement areas. Through partnerships\r\nacross the state and the nation, we\u2019ll explore cost- and\r\nspace-efficient print collection stewardship options to\r\nfacilitate a transformation with more study space and\r\nstreamlined service delivery methods.
\r\n    The Reimagined Library is an engaging focal\r\npoint for the UH community.<\/strong> The library is integral\r\nto the University experience. Students feel a sense of\r\nownership over their library, and they deserve a space\r\nwhere they feel comfortable and inspired. We want\r\nto create a variety of customizable, contextual spaces\r\nthat match our students\u2019 needs in terms of how they\r\nlearn, reflect and connect. Reimagined, our spaces will\r\nuphold the traditional spirit of the library alongside\r\na bright, sleek, flexible, mobile-first design. We want\r\nto strategically center learning, research and engagement\r\nareas connected to co-curricular services, such\r\nas the micro-credential in the Digital Humanities\r\nand Teaching and Learning peer mentors, that build\r\ncommunity among UH students and improve student\r\nsuccess outcomes.
\r\n<\/div>\r\n

\r\n\"Photo\r\n    The Reimagined Library facilitates convergence.<\/strong>\r\nSolutions to the world\u2019s big problems originate in\r\nplaces of centrality. It\u2019s going to take conversations,\r\nopenness and an understanding that research, and\r\nthe knowledge that comes from it, is a public good to\r\nadvance humanity. We are drivers of open scholarship\r\nand connectors facilitating interdisciplinary research.\r\nThrough established campus partnerships, we\u2019re\r\nexpanding awareness of what\u2019s possible and creating\r\nopportunities for students and faculty to engage and\r\nexplore potential collaborations that can yield new\r\ninsights. From lectures by prominent thought leaders\r\nand scholars to exhibits featuring rare and unique\r\narchival materials to an inspiring undergraduate\r\nscholarship showcase, we\u2019re leveraging existing synergies\r\nto discover fresh ideas.
\r\n    We\u2019ve advanced several key initiatives and projects\r\ntoward our goal of realizing the Reimagined Library\r\nvision, yet there is so much more to do. As you read\r\nthe impact stories herein, I invite you to imagine\r\nfuture possibilities. I invite you to become a part of our\r\nReimagined Library journey.<\/p>\r\n
