Each portfolio, led by a UH Libraries associate dean, works collaboratively with other units to advance the research and learning priorities of UH.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<hr \/>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-3 col-md-3 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/libraries.uh.edu\/images\/2025-fall\/creelman.png\" alt=\"Kerry Creelman\" class=\"img-responsive\" \/>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-9 col-md-9 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<h2>Collections Strategies and Discovery<\/h2>\r\n<h3>Associate Dean: Kerry Creelman<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<p>The CSD portfolio uses flexible, user-centered and data-informed strategies to get students, faculty and scholars the information they need as quickly and easily as possible.<\/p>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<h3>Highlights from the 2024\u20132025 academic year:<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><strong>Implemented LibKey<\/strong>, a suite of services that improves access to academic resources through enhanced linking and browsing options.\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Piloted an article-on-demand service<\/strong> that allows faculty to request select articles not included in Libraries\u2019 journal subscriptions, reducing subscription costs and avoiding interlibrary loan services.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Started implementing a new course reading service<\/strong> to amplify library holdings in alignment with course syllabi, helping faculty build more robust reading lists.\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Wrapped up the planning phase of a print collections inventory<\/strong> to ensure our catalog accurately reflects our physical collections.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<\/div><!--\/row-->\r\n<div class=\"clear-it\"><\/div>\r\n\r\n<hr \/>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-3 col-md-3 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/libraries.uh.edu\/images\/2025-fall\/thompson.png\" alt=\"Santi\u2005Thompson\" class=\"img-responsive\" \/>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-9 col-md-9 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<h2>Organizational Development, Learning and Talent<\/h2>\r\n<h3>Associate Dean:\u2005Santi\u2005Thompson<\/h3>\r\n<p>The ODLT portfolio is responsible for recruiting, retaining and enhancing UH Libraries talent. Our units support professional development by connecting our library colleagues with ongoing learning opportunities.<\/p>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<h3>Highlights from the 2024\u20132025 academic year:<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><strong>Collaborated with UH Libraries departments to recruit nine new employees<\/strong>, all of whom will be essential to serving the organization\u2019s mission and vision moving forward.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Engaged our UH Libraries colleagues in professional development opportunities.<\/strong> These included training sessions on building leadership skills, learning new facilitation strategies and techniques, and a variety of academic library workflows and best practices. \r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<\/div><!--\/row-->\r\n<div class=\"clear-it\"><\/div>\r\n\r\n<hr \/>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-3 col-md-3 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/libraries.uh.edu\/images\/2025-fall\/santiago.png\" alt=\"Ariana\u2005Santiago\" class=\"img-responsive\" \/>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-9 col-md-9 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<h2>Research and Student Engagement<\/h2>\r\n<h3>Interim\u2005Associate Dean:\u2005Ariana\u2005Santiago<\/h3>\r\n<p>The RASE portfolio supports the learning and research needs of both students and faculty. Our units collaborate to integrate information literacy education in curricular and co-curricular learning experiences, engage interdisciplinary research communities in the production of new knowledge, expand access to learning materials through open education, and support the needs of health professions programs. <\/p>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<h3>Highlights from the 2024\u20132025 academic year:<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><strong>Piloted a peer mentor program<\/strong> in which undergraduate student leaders expand the reach of UH Libraries\u2019 information literacy education efforts through peer-to-peer learning. <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.uh.edu\/reimagined\/fall-2025\/pioneering-peers\/\">Read more about the program<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Launched new partnerships with the digital media program and the Center for Public History<\/strong>, providing internships that engage student researchers in digital humanities. <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.uh.edu\/reimagined\/fall-2025\/supercharging-the-humanities\/\">Read more about how UH Libraries supports digital humanities<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Supported six courses in adopting open educational resources<\/strong>, giving more than 400 students free access to course learning materials, and launched a new OER professional development incentive in which 16 faculty earned a certificate. <a href=\"https:\/\/libraries.uh.edu\/reimagined\/fall-2025\/the-impact-of-open-education\/\">Read more about the advances in open education<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Increased student engagement events and activities<\/strong> to enhance awareness of library spaces, resources and services at the Health Sciences Library and the Medical Library.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<\/div><!--\/row-->\r\n<div class=\"clear-it\"><\/div>\r\n\r\n<hr \/>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-3 col-md-3 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/libraries.uh.edu\/images\/2025-fall\/gottlieb-miller.png\" alt=\"Lauren Gottlieb-Miller\" class=\"img-responsive\" \/>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-9 col-md-9 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<h2>Special Libraries and Preservation<\/h2>\r\n<h3>Associate Dean: Lauren Gottlieb-Miller<\/h3>\r\n<p>The SLP portfolio is dedicated to the stewardship of distinctive and material-intensive collections, including rare books, archives, manuscripts and other unique or fragile materials that require specialized care, handling and expertise. The portfolio engages distinctive collections to support scholarly and creative work and faculty and student excellence.<\/p>\r\n<\/div><!--\/bs-->\r\n<div class=\"col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\r\n<h3>Highlights from the 2024\u20132025 academic year:<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><strong>Processed and made thousands of archival items discoverable<\/strong> by updated finding aids and digital platforms, significantly enhancing access for researchers and students. Newly processed collections now open for research include the UH College of Nursing Records and the Student Government Association Records.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Digitized 40 years of issues of The Daily Cougar student newspaper<\/strong> to make this valuable historical resource available to the public ahead of the UH Centennial.
