Digital Initiatives Policies and Guidelines
These policies and guidelines:
- Compile documentation related to the creation, management, dissemination, and preservation of digital objects the Libraries cares for
- Address topics related to content added to digital repositories managed by the Libraries in collaboration with outside stakeholders, including the Texas Digital Library and HathiTrust
Current policies
- Digital Preservation Policy (pdf, 466 kB): Addresses policies and procedures regarding the selection, storage, and maintenance of digital objects in UH Libraries’ repositories. Note some links contain information accessible only to Libraries staff
- Digital Collections Development Policy (pdf, 130 kB): Addresses selection criteria for the various digital repositories managed by UH Libraries in collaboration with outside stakeholders, including the Texas Digital Library and HathiTrust
This content is maintained by the Digital Collection Management Committee (DCMC) in cooperation with the Digital Preservation Working Group, the Copyright Team, Special Collections, Special Libraries, Resource Management and Metadata, Preservation and Reformatting, and Libraries Administration. DCMC will review and update these documents on an annual basis. Individual policies may also be updated on an as-needed basis.
