Cancellations
To support the University of Houston’s teaching and research goals, UH Libraries makes decisions about renewing or canceling resources based on a broad, data-informed approach. We consider multiple factors when reviewing library collections, including:
- Cost: We look at how much a resource costs and how its price has changed over time.
- Usage: We consider how often a resource is used by the UH community—like how many times articles are downloaded or videos are streamed.
- Cost per Use (CPU): We compare the cost of a resource to how much it’s used, and whether it would be cheaper to access it in other ways, like interlibrary loan.
- Overlap: If a resource has content that’s already available through another subscription, we may decide not to keep both.
- Vendor Reliability: We take into account the vendor’s customer service, platform usability, and licensing terms.
You can find an up-to-date list of resources we’ve canceled below. Unless otherwise noted, access to each resource ends on the first day of the listed month. In some cases, you might still see access beyond that date due to vendor processing delays, but this shouldn’t be relied on.
